Eyes Fixed on God

In the time of distress and confusion, Jehoshaphat ended his prayer,"O our God … for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.   2 Chron 20:12

This scripture passage stuck with me for a while because I had some issues I wanted the Lord to direct me in.  But having my eyes on God seems to be a play on words if I can't see Him with my natural eye.  Ok Lord, what did Jehoshaphat mean by that?  And what did David mean when he said "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."  Ps. 121:1-2.

Does it mean that we walk around all day looking up into the sky?  Can't be.  Then I saw the meaning in another verse.  Check it out:Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.  Ps 123:2

There it was.  Our eyes wait upon the Lord!  In other words, we look or expect by faith the Lord to come to our rescue.  Everyday, I'm looking (expecting) God to show up!  Do realize that God moves when He wants so the word WAIT means exactly what it says.  We are waiting on the Lord but still remaining in faith not doubting.   I admit if we look at some of our present circumstances we can become very discouraged.

The question is are you REALLY expecting God to help you?  Don't concentrate on the discouraging situations.  That's what people with no hope do.  But realize that things are going to get better because you are a person of faith and Your Eyes Are Fixed On God!  Where you are and what you are experiencing is not the end.  God's got something better!

The only thing that you should be interested in is what God has to say about the matter.  If God didn't start pulling His hair out over it yet, no need for you to.

Make sure that Your Eyes Are Fixed On God!
